My New Business Card
My studio is coming along slowly but surely
One of the first photos out of my new studio. Nov16, 2007
Just playing around in my studio today. Lots of Photoshop here. Books help after several of them!
I shot this owl on the Fort St. John to Hudson Hope highway yesterday Dec. 1, 2007. Anyone know what kind it is? Another year just about gone.
I thought these kids were fun to photograph.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. This is Mon the 24th, Christmas Eve and I am at the gas plant, running it. I have to work the 24th to the 27th this year,so not many Christmas pics this year. See you in the new year.
I updated my web site with a new look yesterday. How do you like it? I do not have any coding knowledge and the old pages were to hard for me to add new links etc, so the pages started to get slopply looking. The new pages are just a template that came with Dreamweaver. I hope with this template that I can expand things easer.
Last year in Sept I had my truck and camper stolen while I was on vacation. I was having dinner with my X and my daughter in Montana’s Ranch House on the By-Pass Road in Langley B.C. We were in there for 1 1/4 hrs. and it was broad daylight. The RCMP recovered my truck without the camper on it in Mission BC the next day. All my camera gear was there. I was insured and all replaced except for the irreplaceable stuff.
Well I just got a call from the Langley RCMP and they got my camera on a search warrant. I get first dibbs when the insurance company sells it. I guess they do, (the RCMP)do something once in awhile.
I did get out with my 40D for awhile. It was -26 C and I took a to light a jacket so did not spend to much time outside. I posted the owl above. I do not know what kind it is.
Yesterday I took delivery of the new Canon 40D! Now I have a choice of an excellent APC (1.6 factor size)and the full frame sensor in my 5D. The 40D uses 14 bit recording versus the 12 bit recording of the 5D. Both excellent cameras with fantastic image quality. The 40D is much faster and will be great to venture into High Dynamic Range Images as it shoots 6.5 frames per second. It will be able to capture 3 different exposers in less than 1/2 a second. It’s -20 deg C outside now and things will have to wait.
Trouble with new firmware upgrade for the new Canon EOS 40D.
The Blanchette family was my new shoot in the studio today. They are getting ready for Christmas. Mike’s dislocated shoulder slowed him down a bit, but he did fine as did the kids.
An old friend Betty Carlson, who I have known since 1971 is the first person to post pictures on my photo gallery. Thanks Betty. I hope many follow your lead!
Today I added a gallery that you can create your own albums and post your own pictures. At the upper right of this page, under Pages, click on the “Upload Your Own Pictures Here” link and then on to the album pages. You must register so as to keep out the spammers. I hope some of you upload some pics so we can see.
I received my studio lights yesterday. I got 4 Prophoto 600 W/s monolights. Waiting still for a 3 x 4 ft. softbox. I guess now I really can call me McGillveray Studios. Still lots to do.
I just figured out how to stream video and audio. Check back for more later. I have been working my usual overtime and not much time for much else.
Dec 6, 2007. I got rid of the streaming stuff as it was interfering with my uploading pictures to this blog and giving errors on some pages. More to learn.
I switched from vistapages.com as my server a few days ago as they crashed several times durning the first 30 days. They have a 30 money back policy. I applied for a refund under this policy. I have not heard back from then since. In fact the service ticket number I sent in is gone in my ticket history, but other tickets I sent in are still there. Now they do not answer their phones like they did when I first signed up. I will keep you posted.
I did after persistence, get my money back. I now am served by canadianwebhoasting.com and we will see how they preform.
Please note that I have this blog set so that you have to register to post a comment. A password will be emailed to, you will be able to change it and your profile anytime after. Your post will then be posted immediately. This is to help keep out automatic spammers.
Thank You
